Current Information:Age-29 Born-Hoxton Chapelle-d'Armentieres Old Military Cemetery, France
On 15th January, 1915 the 2nd York & Lancaster battalion of 16 Brigade, 6th Division moved into trenches at Chapelle d’Armentiéres where they remained until relieved on 19th January. The battalion diary recorded that the usual sniping took place during their time spent in the front line and it is likely that it was a sniper’s bullet that accounted for the death of Stephen Sadgrove on 17th January. |
